Coach Kip designed Good Putting.com when he realized that he was not going to ever be a great driver of the golf ball. Coach Kip is an athletic guy playing football and running track for his high school, and playing hockey and baseball in recreation leagues. Coach Kip fell in love with golf at the end of his high school career and began getting serious about it in college. After unsuccessfully playing his way onto the college golf team Coach Kip was not discouraged. Knowing that all he needed to do was to get his game in order. Coach Kip worked hard for the next several years starting with his game on the green, and then chipping, then iron play and finally driving the ball. It was at this stage the frustration set in. Not being an overly strong person Coach Kip could not drive the ball as far as other players. A Cory Pavin type player Coach Kip struggled with his long game, and excelled around the green. Getting his handicap down to a 5, he still struggled off the tee sacrificing distance for accuracy. When challenged with longer holes Coach Kip struggled. Getting a job as a football coach in Nashville, TN Coach Kip began focusing more of his time to his team. When getting the chance to get out and play Coach Kip realized that he still had touch around the greens, and still could putt the lights out of the green. Putting was something that did not leave his abilities. But driving the ball was another story. The muscle memory just did not work, having to train his muscles over again after every layoff. Sometimes a slice, sometimes a hook, but always inconsistent. Putting? Always there, always consistent. So Coach Kip began to study why this was the case. He realized that it was simple, a sense of confidence, but also knowing that anyone can be a good putter. It only took a little brainpower, some touch, and some easy fundamentals. Actually as he began to study pros, and amatures who were both good and bad putters, and he found some very similar qualities. Coach Kip is now busy writing an instruction manual and a instructional video. Until then he will be bringing his information to you in his blog, and sharing information that he has found on the web. Until then keep it in the short stuff, and make a lot of putts.
